EXPENSIVE STUPIDITY

An item being run repeatedly on Foxnews. According to the Homeland Security Agency, terrorists may try to hide explosives in small electronic items. Duh. We pay these guys how much for this?

By my recollection, Pan American flight 103 crashed near Lockerbie, Scotland, with total loss of life, and was one of the first "terrorist acts" involving airplanes. The cause was reported to be C4 explosive hidden in a transistor radio; placed aboard the aircraft in baggage loaded in Germany and improperly screened. Those damned Germans!

So many years later, we still have no effective way to screen electronic items for C4. Not only is that totally beyond the Taking Scissors Away agency, Homeland Security is just beginning to realize it may be a threat.

Agencies can spend money, and spend more money, but at how many dollars per clue?
