MERCENARIES

What is an army of mercenaries? An army which is not composed of citizens of the country whose flag it uses, but of "foreigners" who fight for money.
Who would do this? In America's revolutionary war, the British hired "Hessians" (Germans) to do the fighting. In France's Vietnam experience, they relied heavily on the French Foreign Legion.

In America's recent (and ongoing) "liberation" of Iraq, "our" troops included (and
include) approximately 31,000 people who are not American Citizens. Their pay?
They get full American soldier's pay, plus American Citizenship after one year. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I note that our liberal and conservative media join to put a positive "spin" on this, with their universal acclaim of the "brave men and women" being granted citizenship on the warship Constellation. How about substituting "money loving" for "brave?"
